2022 Virginia Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference: SLC Homecoming

Local chapters can now register on Blue Panda. Please reach out to Ms. Kara Wood, Virginia PBL Conference Director at virginiapbldirector@gmail.com if you have not received a link to register or need help setting up a username. Reminder, all attendees must pay their State/National FBLA-PBL dues ($18) first, before being registered for the conference. Conference registration fees ($50 per attendee) are due upon registration via credit card or check. Checks should be made payable to Virginia Phi Beta Lambda.

COVID-19: As a safety precaution, we will require masks for all attendees while in the Richmond Convention Center. There will be no handshakes between students and judges. Additional health and safety measures may be in place to protect all conference attendees.

  • What is the State Leadership Conference?
    The State Leadership Conference is held annually in the spring. The date and location of the SLC are determined by the State Director. Conference activities include state officer campaigns and elections, competitive events, workshops, social functions, and awards ceremony. Materials for conference and event registration are sent to local chapters in early spring by the State Director.
  • Who can attend?
    All colleigate PBL members who have paid their state and national membership dues are welcomed to register and attend SLC. Students do not have to compete in an event to attend the State Leadership Conference.
  • What if I don't have an FBLA-PBL chapter at my college?
    You can still attend as a virtual PBL Direct member! Learn more at https://www.fbla-pbl.org/pbl-direct/ and feel free to email us at vaphibetalambda@gmail.com for more information.
  • What is included in my registration fee?
    The $50 registration fee covers all conference materials, access to opening and closing ceremonies, awards for competitive event winners, and access to all workshops and social events.
  • What are PBL competitions?
    The National Awards Program, also known as competitive events, recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. PBL competitive events also prepare college students for the workforce by expanding their classroom experience with real-world scenarios.
  • Where can I find the list of competitions and guidelines offered this year?

  • How do I select a competitive event?
    You can learn more about the competitive events offered on the FBLA-PBL national website. You can also download a copy of the competitive event guidelines. You will be able to select and register for your events during the Blue Panda registration process. The top two winners for events requiring a prejudged or performance component and the top three individuals in objective test events are eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference on June 24-27, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. Each competitor can compete in two events.
  • Who can apply to be a state officer?
    Any dedicated PBL member is welcomed to apply, who meets the following requirements: Receive approval from local chapter to run for state office Have one year remaining in your academic program (all majors are encouraged to apply) Attend the 2022 and 2023 State Leadership Conferences Attend the 2022 Virginia PBL State Officer Training Conference in the summer Attend the 2022 Virginia PBL Fall State Conference in the fall Participate actively in state officer meetings and activities
  • What is the SLC Internship?
    The SLC internship provides selected interns unprecedented behind the scenes access to the 2022 SLC: Homecoming conference! This program is perfect for members interested in event management and a behind-the-scenes look at running the conference. Interns will have an integral part in planning, implementing, and executing the State Leadership Conference and will develop event and project management skills by working with the registration team, assisting with workshops and events, and helping with other aspects of the conference. Interns will be required to participate in pre-conference planning, as well as conference events beginning at 7:45am on conference day. If interns meet all necessary requirements, they will be eligible for a refund of the conference registration fee, awarded directly to the chapter following the conference.Interns will assist in a variety tasks, including but not limited to ceremony prepartion, graphical
